    I’m a big fan of computational thinking and the language of programming. In fact, I’ve heard of some schools considering it as part of their MFL offering, which is actually a fantastic way to approach it.

    We used Logo last year as a springboard for Scratch, which have both given them a good grounding in computational thought. I’d be interested to know where teachers go from here with KS3 pupils…C+?

    Any suggestions, lesson plans or resources would be appreciated.

    It’s written by one of the creators of Scratch. Worth a read if you have time.

    I wholeheartedly agree your point about the importance of computational thinking; I wrote an article in the Telegraph a few weeks ago essentially stating that Programming is the start not the end: let’s develop computational thinking and problem solving skills. The thinking and problem solving skills have to be developed before (or alongside) the programming skills.

    p.s. Computing At School (CAS) are working hard to promote and support the teaching of computer science in UK schools, especially via the CAS/BCS Network of Computer Science Teaching Excellence. To get involved with CAS or the NoE, contact your local CAS Regional Hub.
